Kat McNamara is an award-winning American actress best known for her leading roles on MTV’s Happyland and Freeform’s Shadowhunters. Her career began in 2008 with an appearance on Broadway in A Little Night Music alongside Angela Lansbury and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Her on-screen career began the same year with a cameo on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and an appearance in the feature film Matchmaker Mary. McNamara’s TV career mostly consisted of guest appearances until she landed a role as Myra Santelli in the Disney Channel television movie Girl vs. Monster, which led to a central part as Harper Munroe in Happyland in 2014. She has continued to work in television, portraying the main character of Clary Fray in Shadowhunters, picking up a People’s Choice Award for Female TV Star for this role in 2018.
After breaking out in television, McNamara parlayed this success onto the big screen with a role in 2015’s Maze Runner sequel Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, going on to reprise the part in 2018’s Maze Runner: The Death Cure. McNamara’s previous film roles include New Year’s Eve and Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn. In 2018 McNamara landed a recurring role in superhero television show Arrow while making an appearance in CBS’ Happy Together.
