British TV presenter and YouTube star Maddie Moate is best known for presenting children’s TV series Do You Know? on CBeebies, picking up a Children’s BAFTA Award in 2017 for her work on the programme.
Studying theatre, film and television at Bristol University, Moate developed her own series named The App Show, an online comedy series on web portal LadyGeek. Attracting over 850,000 views after its debut in 2011, the programme explored issues surrounding technology from a female perspective and eventually received sponsorship from mobile phone brand Nokia. Evidently a talented presenter, Moate was given the opportunity to present O2 Guru TV’s News Burst, going on to host more prominent programmes on Channel 4 in the same year.
With a strong reputation as a science expert and communicator, Moate was asked by Intel, Argos and Sony Xperia to present their online content throughout 2013 and 2014. The presenter soon became the host BBC Earth Unplugged, a BBC YouTube channel with over 480,000 subscribers, and has since become the resident technology expert on BBC 5 Live’s Saturday Edition.
As one of the only British YouTubers with a family-focused outlook, Maddie has transformed her passion for creating educational online content into a successful career, continuing to build an immense and devoted online fanbase that have helped her to accumulate over 25 million views.
