Marina Sirtis is a British actress, perhaps best known for her role as Counselor Deanna Troi in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Due to the success of this role, she was lucky enough to star in the four movies that followed.
Sirtis’ acting career began in 1976 as a member of the Connaught Theatre, based in West Sussex, England. Directed by Nic Young, Marin starred ‘What the Butler Saw’, as well as in ‘Hamlet’ as Ophelia.
Before Marin was given a part in Star Trek, she enjoyed many supporting roles in movies like Death Wish 3, The Wicked Lady, Raffles, Blind Date, Hazell, Who Pays the Ferryman, Minder, The Return of Sherlock Holmes and Up the Elephant and Round the Castle.
By ’86, Marina moved to the US to help bolster her acting career. She was actually busy packing to fly home when she got a call to confirm that she had won the role of Troi in Star Trek. In the end, Marina appeared in every single series of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Her character evolved from a passive therapist to a though officer.
Marina Sirtis’ role of Troi was brought back, for movies including Star Trek First Contact, Star Trek Generations, Star Trek Nemesis and Star Trek Insurrection. She also appeared in Star Trek: Voyager for a few episodes and also in the season finale of Star Trek: Enterprise.
