Biography

Hollywood star and Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard is an accomplished actor and singer who has been landing major roles across television and film since 1995. Howard is best known for playing the part of James Rhodes in Marvel Comics picture Iron Man, starring opposite Robert Downey Jr. Most recently, he can be seen portraying the anti-hero and lead character of Fox’s American musical drama TV series Empire, hip-hop mogul Lucious Lyon.

 

Howard first rose to prominence after landing roles in Dead Presidents and Mr Holland’s Opus in 1995, in which he turned out a riveting and widely acclaimed debut performance. He broke through into the mainstream with high-profile cinema roles that saw him earn an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his performance in Hustle & Flow.

 

In addition to an impressive filmography that features endearing roles in much-loved TV shows like Law & Order: Los Angeles and Wayward Pines, Howard has also featured in the likes of Ray, Winnie, Crash, Get Rich or Die Trying and The Brave One, performances which have fully established him as one of Hollywood’s most prominent names.
A self-taught musician, Howard plays several instruments, demonstrating his skills opposite Jamie Foxx in 2004 biopic Ray. Howard released his debut album Shine Through It in 2008, featuring eleven tracks of urban, country and R&B written by the actor and a host of collaborators.
