Tom Coughlin

Biography

Tom Coughlin began his sporting career at high school, as many others do. Earning a coveted scholarship to Syracuse University, he played half back there, but instead of going on to play with the NFL, he immediately became a coach: first at Syracuse and then at other schools, before coaching teams including the Eagles, Packers, Giants, and Jaguars. He has found considerable success over the years and is well known for his strong coaching style.

Now, Tom Coughlin is executive VP of football operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars and will continue on as their head coach through 2021 at least. Coughlin has provided over the Jaguars as they’ve received first division titles, made winning records, and triumphed in playoff wins. He is now a senior advisor for the NFL.

His life is full of so much more than just football, however. Coughlin has toured with other coaches, visiting soldiers overseas in Iraq, and was given the Outstanding Civilian Service Award for his services to families of those in the US Army. His celebrity status has allowed him to develop the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation, in honour of a young man who passed away from leukemia at Boston College. The foundation now works against childhood cancer and provides support for their families during difficult times: more than $8 million has so far been raised. The coach has also made guest appearances in a range of TV shows and documentaries over the years, and provided the voice and image for the NFL Head Coach video game.
