Dereck Chisora

Biography

British professional boxer Dereck Chisora is a popular after dinner guest, question taker and illuminating sports personality who can bring a real spark to your conference, award ceremony or boxing dinner. Having arrived in the UK from Zimbabwe in 1999, Chisora started out on the boxing path as an amateur, fighting roughly 20 times and winning a Four Nations gold and the 2006 ABA super heavyweight title in the process. It was with a knockout against István Kecskés in 2007 that Chisora turned pro, and the 6ft orthodox stance boxer has since gone on to pick up the nickname of Del Boy. In the last five years there have been many a gruelling battle for Chisora, including against fellow rising British heavyweight prospect, Sam Sexton, whom he beat in dramatic style in the dying seconds of the last round. Although matches have been scheduled, a surely career defining fight against IBF, IBO, WBO and Ring Magazine heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, has yet to manifest itself, with Dereck’s record currently sat at 15 wins (9 of them knockouts), 3 defeats and no draws. Should you need someone to offer an insight into the high pressure world of professional sport, answer your behind the scenes questions about boxing or generally add an air of sporting celebrity to your event, Dereck Chisora should be your first port of call.
