Ellie Simmonds

Biography

Four time Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds is a multi-world record holding athlete and truly inspirational sporting personality. Availed to be a brand ambassador, for charity functions, after dinner speeches and a range of other public engagements, Ellie is a truly engaging and inspirational character. The youngest ever winner of BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2008, Ellie was also honoured with being the youngest ever person to receive an MBE at the age of just 14 years old. As if that wasn’t inspirational enough, she also won her first Paralympic medal at the age of just 13 years and nine months. Ever since she first appeared as a fine sporting talent, Ellie has continued to be a force to be reckoned with and now has ten world records to her name. Ellie’s disability is classified as Achondroplasia dwarfism but that hasn’t stopped her winning thirteen World titles, 10 European titles and breaking eight world records in her chosen event of swimming. She competes at the 400m Freestyle as well as SM6 200m Individual Medley and has won silver at the 2012 London Games in the S6 100m Freestyle and Bronze in the S6 50m Freestyle. A real star of the people who has the whole country behind her, Ellie is a golden girl of British athletics and as such inspires audiences of all ages and backgrounds with her tales of dedication, devotion and sporting discipline. After a fine Games in London 2012, Ellie continued to win big with three gold medals, a bronze and a world record all pick dup at the World Championships in Montreal.
