Biography

Primetime Emmy award-winning actress Holland Taylor has starred in a variety of roles across stage and screen in a career that spans over half a century. Pupil of renowned actress and acting teacher Stella Adler, Taylor’s breakthrough came after starring in Bosom Buddies (1980), acting alongside Tom Hanks. The actress is perhaps best known for her role as Evelyn Harper in the Golden Globe-winning primetime comedy series Two And A Half Men. Although she has a passion for theatre, winning a Drama-Logue Award for her performance in Cocktail Hour (1990), Holland’s best-known work has been within the TV and film industry, earning her a 1999 Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Roberta Kittleson in the 1997 crime series The Practice.

Holland Taylor has often been cast as a maternal figure, playing the mother of stars such as Jim Carrey, Michelle Pfeiffer, Tina Fey, Nicole Kidman and Charlie Sheen. Known for her often ritzy and sophisticated performances, Holland is often spoken of as one of the classiest women in Hollywood. An avid supporter of the Los Angeles fundraiser Aid for Aids, she has served as an Honorary Board Member, participating in their annual fundraiser the Best In Drag Show, in addition to many other charity events.
