Janina Zione Gavankar is an achieved musician and actress, hailing from the United States.
She is perhaps best known for her role in True Blood, where she starred as Luna Garza. Arguably her most successful work yet, this series accumulated an astonishing 7 million viewers a week by the end of 2008.
Other noteworthy performances include her portrayal of Shiva, in the American sitcom, The League. Airing on FX and FXX from 2009 to 2015, The League was a partly improvised show, surrounding the trials and tribulations of a fantasy football league.
Other noteworthy roles include Papi, the lesbian philanderer in The L Word, Leigh Turner, a policewoman in The Gates, Ms. Dewey, the humanised Microsoft search engine, McKenna Hall in CW’s hit TV show Arrow and Meredith Bose in NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura. Janina Gavankar also played Diana Thomas in FOX’s classic fantasy drama, Sleepy Hollow.
As well as an extremely prolific acting career, Janina Gavankar worked as a voice actor for EA’s action-shooter game, Star Wars Battlefront II. In the game, Janina depicts Iden Versio, one of the main protagonist in the story. Gavankar is also a classically trained orchestral percussionist, vocalist and pianist. She got a major from the University of Illinois at Chicago, in Theatre Performance.
