Julie Benz

Biography

Julie Benz is a talented actress known for appearing in countless prominent roles across American television during the past 25 years. She is widely recognised for portraying Darla in cult teen TV series’ Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel from 1997 to 2004, before landing the role of Rita Bennett in serial killer drama-comedy Dexter. Most recently, she can be seen in CBS’s Training Day and Hawaii 5-0, playing the latest team member and Chin Ho’s girlfriend, Abby Dunn. In recognition of her talents, Benz has taken home awards such as the 2006 Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress and the 2009 Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress.

A skilled ice dancer in her youth, Benz took part in the US Championships before landing the role of a lifetime in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Originally given a relatively minor role in the pilot, her impressive performance led the directors to offer her a central and recurring role. Benz’s other TV credits include Desperate Housewives, where she brought originality and flair to the part of Robin Gallagher. She’s also featured in Roswell and A Gifted Man, after being tapped by Hollywood casting directors for parts in blockbusters including The Brothers, Rambo and Saw V. A consistent and welcome presence on American screens, Julie Benz is a widely acclaimed and well-regarded actress who continues to excel.
