Pippa Funnell

Biography

British equestrian sportswoman Pippa Funnell is often spoken about as one of the sports finest ever riders who is available for after dinner speeches, event hosting duties, TV appearances and many more engagements. One of Pippa’s major achievements came in 2003 when she became the first and only woman to win eventing’s greatest prize, the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing, which includes consecutive wins at Kentucky, Badminton and Burghley.
In her long and illustrious career Pippa has been associated with some famous horses including Sir Barnaby, Supreme Rock, Bits and Pieces, Primmore’s Pride and Ensign. For her services to the sport and many great achievements, 2005 saw Pippa honoured with an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Funnell excelled early on becoming European Young Rider Champion in 1987 after successfully competing in Poland. Early on at international level Pippa suffered from big match nerves and sought help from a sports psychologist who helped her become more confident. It truly paid off and has become something Pippa can speak about should you book her for any public engagement.
Outside of horse riding, Pippa Funnell has appeared on a number of DVDs including Pippa Funnell, Road to the Top and The Funnell Factor, and in 2005 wrote her story in Pippa Funnell: The Autobiography. She has also starred in a number of horse riding based video games and also writes her own children’s book series called Tilly’s Pony Tails.
