Plastique Tiara

Biography

One of the most vivacious figures to take the stage in RuPaul’s Drag Race, Plastique Tiara is currently wowing American audiences in the wildly popular VH1 competition’s eleventh season. The self-described “Asian Barbie” has already built a devoted fanbase thanks to her undeniable charm, flawless looks and incredible stage presence, boosting her social media presence to new heights: her Instagram account now has over 700k followers and counting.

Raised in Vietnam, Plastique Tiara – known as Duc Tran when off stage – would never have dreamed that she would become one of the most popular drag entertainers in the United States. After moving overseas and unveiling a new identity, she developed a distinctive aesthetic after devouring make-up tutorials and style advice on YouTube while making herself known in the Dallas drag scene, refining the persona and performance that would eventually dazzle audiences of millions on American television.

“It’s not even about the makeup, the hair or the clothes. I think that the most important thing women can learn from drag is just to be confident in yourself… just be confident, girl!”

Plastique Tiara joined the cast of Drag Race as soon as she turned 21, becoming a “Ru girl” after her first audition – no easy feat. She has since made a huge impression on both the audiences and the judges, leading a new generation of drag queens that defy tradition. Taking the top spot in Billboard’s ‘Power Ranking’ of the show’s competitors, Plastique Tiara looks set to take home the crown later this year.
