Biography

Shannon Purser is the child-star in Netflix’s original series, Stranger Things. Cast as Barbara Holland, this role propelled Shannon into international fame.
Faced with the tricky task of portraying a character of high intelligence and complexity, Shannon succeeded, and was ultimately nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Despite the fact that Barbara Holland was a somewhat marginal force, Shannon received much critical praise, with some TV pundits even hailing Barb as one of the best characters from the show.
After the success for Stranger Things, the offers began rolling in. Eventually, Shannon accepted the role of Ethel Muggs in CW’s drama show, Riverdale. By 2018, she also earned a supporting role in her first feature-length film, Life of the Party.
At the start of 2017, it was confirmed by media outlets that Shannon Purser had been cast in yet another film called, Sierra Burgess Is a Loser. Today, Shannon is busy filming for a new NBC drama called Rise. Set to be a runaway success, Purser will play a regular character called Annabelle Bowman, a member of Stanton High’s drama troupe.
Aside from her successes on the screen, Shannon Purser has also been busy recording an audiobook called ‘Leah On The Offbeat’. A novel written by Becky Albertalli for young adults, ‘Leah On The Offbeat’ is a story of struggle, surrounding body image, relationships, sexuality, self-esteem and marginalisation.
With such great talent at such a young age, Shannon’s career set to continue rising.
