Terry Venables

Terry Venables was an English football manager who took charge of the national side and has remained a prominent figure in the sport even years after retiring. Now a popular and regular face on TV working as a pundit and commentator, Venables has a rare insight into the game at the very highest level and this means his views are always important for lovers of the beautiful game. His career in football has spanned more than 43 years and has seen him during his playing days associated with sides like Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace.
As a player Terry was part of an early 1966 World Cup squad but never quite made the tournament, but he is still well placed to talk about that year’s sporting triumph in the upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations of the milestone. As a manger he had many success including managing Crystal Palace to promotion, twice, from the Third Division to the First Division. He then went on to work with Barcelona where he won the famous La Liga as well as the cup competition the Copa de la Liga. Back home Terry managed a Tottenham side all the way to a winning FA Cup final in 1991 having won it with them as a player in 1967. Of course, Terry was also in charge of the England side during Euro 1996 held at home in the UK and took the side to the semi-finals. With such a great knowledge and understanding of the game it is no wonder he is a pundit for the BBC and ITV.
