Tessa Sanderson

Biography

Tessa Sanderson is a former javelin thrower, six time Olympian and Gold Medal winner who is now in demand for her public speaking and personal appearances. Tessa is only the second track and field athlete to compete in six Games. Also holding the honour of being the only British woman to ever win a throwing Gold Medal, she is a three time Commonwealth Gold Medalist and because of her contributions to sport over the years she has been honoured with an MBE, OBE and CBE, which was awarded in 2004. A real ambassador for sport, Tessa runs her own academy and was a Team GB ambassador during the Olympic Games in London in 2012. Her own gold medal came at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and as such Tessa is often asked to speak at events that range from large conferences to schools to award presentations. She is a really motivational figure whose presentation ‘Path to Glory’ covers her story from school days through to winning her Olympic Gold Medal and beyond. Her Tessa Sanderson Foundation and Academy is a charity that looks to help young people in sport and points them in the direction of a healthier lifestyle through physical activity. Tessa has also been on TV countless times on shows such as Dancing On Ice Goes Gold, Antiques Road Trip, Celebrity Masterchef, Great British Menu, Pointless and Mr & Mrs, plus Cash in the Attic. She also hosted Jamaican TV`s morning coverage of the 2012 Games. Sanderson also served as Vice-Chairman of Sport England from 1999 to 2005 so is a pivotal figure in the industry and as such is a vital character and great ambassador for a range of opportunities.
